A home that has been through fabric improvement works

Damp & mould

Treat the cause, then the surface.

Most repeat damp and mould cases come back because the surface was treated and the cause was not. We diagnose first, evidence the diagnosis, then carry out the work that removes it.

What the service covers

01

Property inspection

Moisture meter readings, thermal imaging, surface and air temperature and relative humidity, plus a check of the existing ventilation and how it is actually being used.

02

Cause diagnosis

Condensation, penetrating damp, rising damp, plumbing defect or cold bridging — each has a different fix. The report says which one it is and what the evidence for that is.

03

Ventilation works

Continuous dMEV, MEV systems, trickle ventilation and extract upgrades, commissioned and flow-tested rather than just fitted.

04

Fabric remediation

Insulation to cold spots, repair of failed rainwater goods and pointing, roof and window defects closed out before any surface treatment is applied.

05

Mould treatment

Affected surfaces treated and redecorated once the cause has been dealt with, so the growth does not return within the season.

06

Monitoring after the works

Temperature and humidity sensors left in place where a case has a history, giving evidence of whether the fix has actually worked.

Working with a case load

Where a provider has a backlog of reported cases, we take them as a programme rather than one at a time.

Triage
Reported cases sorted by severity and by household vulnerability, so the properties seen first are the ones that need it.
Consistent reporting
Every property surveyed to the same template, with photographs and readings, so cases can be compared and patterns across an estate become visible.
Link to retrofit
Where damp is a symptom of the fabric, the property is carried into the retrofit programme rather than repaired twice. Ventilation is specified alongside insulation under PAS 2035, not after it.
Audit trail
Survey, diagnosis, works carried out and post-works readings recorded per property, which is what you need when a case is challenged.
